bridal session tips

prep for your bridal session!

Here are our best tips & tricks to help you

Location + Timing

It's common to do the session at your venue. Most venues schedule bridal sessions during the week since weddings are typically on the weekends. We recommend scheduling your session at least 6 weeks before the big day, especially if you want to print the photos and use them at your wedding.  This allows enough time for editing and printing from a professional lab. In-store printing is not recommended for best results.

Doing it at your venue is a great way to spend some extra time at your venue, envisioning yourself as a bride! Choosing your venue as the location allows your portraits to flow nicely with your wedding day photos! We recommend a mix of indoor and outdoor photos:)

Florals & Other Details

Bring your bouquet! Ask your florist about making a second one for your bridal photos. Many florists have the option to add on a smaller bouquet that matches your main bouquet. Be sure to ask when you’re planning your flowers!

Clean your engagement ring and have your shoes, jewelry and other accessories ready to be photographed! It’s a great idea to bring anything you plan on wearing on your big day so you can make sure that everything looks good together and just how you envisioned it!

What To Bring

Bring a friend! Whether it be your mother or your maid of honor, bringing someone can help make the experience extra special. Having someone there is also helpful for things like veil tosses and fluffing your dress.

Here’s a short list of things to bring:

  • Cleaned engagement ring

  • Wedding shoes

  • Your veil

  • Wedding day jewelry and other accessories

  • Mock bouquet

  • Extra lipstick for touch ups

  • Meaningful details you would like photographed
